European Week of Regions and Cities 2020

 

The European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) is the biggest annual Brussels-based event dedicated to regional policy. This year, it will take place on October 12-15th. For the 2020 edition, conferences and debates will be centered around 3 main themes: Green Europe, Cohesion and cooperation and empowering citizens.

The event is a unique communication and networking platform, bringing together regions and cities from all over Europe. The European Week of Regions and Cities and its side events are aimed at Regional, local, national and european governement officials, as well as experts in the field of managing and evaluating cohesion policy programmes. Representatives of the private sector, citizens, academics also also most welcome to the event to express their views and contribute to the debate.

The week will take place in October but might be happening digitally, at least partially. The format will be decided by the end of June.

Due to Covid-19, the EU Week of Regions and Cities will now be mainly a digital event spread out during three consecutive weeks in October:

  • 5-9 October: Empowering Citizens
  • 12-16 October: Cohesion and Cooperation
  • 19-22 October: Green Europe back-to-back with the EU Green Week.

​​All workshops, participatory labs and Q&A sessions will be digital, while exhibitions, tastings and talks will remain physically hosted in Brussels. Key events such as the RegioStars Awards will be hybrid events (partly digital, partly physical).

Registrations for participants will be open from 27 August to 27 September.
