e-MOTICON - e-Mobility Transnational strategy for an Interoperable Community and Networking in the Alpine Space

A strategy for planning charging stations

The objective of the e-MOTICON project was to address the issue of the non-homogenous distribution of electric mobility in the Alpine region, by providing public authorities with a transnational strategy based on interoperability. The aim was to plan publicly accessible charging stations, in a way that is compatible with urban planning, mobility planning or energy infrastructure instruments.

The project was organised around three axes:

  • Raise awareness among local authorities and mobility operators about the benefits of electric mobility.
  • Promote electric mobility with a transnational approach, at the scale of the Alpine region.
  • Propose a strategy for the deployment of homogeneous charging stations.

Consider user behaviour

e-MOTICON has adopted an approach that is both technical and societal, in response to users’ expectations and services that can be jointly developed with charging stations. This approach allowed to define various models of user behaviour and expectations. Coupled with the needs of the partners, the aim was to draft a European strategy for a more successful implementation of alternative fuel equipment systems, in this case, of the electric type.
