Resource saving and reuse of building waste: update on the situation in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Making the building sector more energy and environmentally efficient requires massive renovation of the existing built heritage, by promoting the local reuse of materials, improving the thermal insulation of residential and tertiary buildings and reducing waste production, while improving their traceability and recycling rate.

A technical report, published end of 2022 by CIRIDD, provides an update on the situation of the sector in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in partnership with AURA-EE, the company Batirim, the French scientific and technical building centre (CSTB), Grenoble Alpes Métropole and Ville & Aménagement Durable.

On the agenda: a regulatory update on the recycling of construction and public works waste (EPR, PEMD, sorting of mineral fractions, plasters, etc.), a focus on three players in the circular economy in the building sector (BATIRIM, Grenoble Alpes Métropole and CSTB), and an inventory of the dynamics in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: existing acceleration factors and development ways to enable the implementation of targeted local actions.
