Planning for renewable heating and cooling: a successful kick-off meeting for the ESCALATE project

2024.10.25

On September 4th and 5th, 2024, the kick-off meeting of the European ESCALATE project took place in Karlsruhe. Bringing together 11 partners from 10 EU countries, this LIFE project aims to develop an efficient methodology for local planning of renewable heating and cooling.

Drawing on the expertise of knowledge partners, the local presence of regional energy agencies, and the skills of a communications consultancy, the project commits to supporting small and medium-sized municipalities over the next three years in developing two local heating and cooling plans.

Among other goals, ESCALATE will enable municipalities to adopt existing energy transition planning tools, enhance their skills through an e-learning platform, and comply with the latest European directive on energy efficiency.

I am glad to be part of the ESCALATE project. As a partner, AURA-EE will enable two municipalities to develop local heating and cooling plans. The kick-off meeting was a success, with all partners demonstrating great commitment and expertise. This project will be a useful tool to support the clean energy transition in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
