The INFIRE project aims to develop solutions for the economic evaluation of local authority projects in the fields of adaptation to climate change and carbon neutrality, and to improve funding policies.
Innovative solutions for financing adaptation to climate change and carbon neutrality
The project has 3 phases:
- An analysis of the economic, political and financial framework, which consists of drawing up an inventory of innovative green financing solutions for climate change adaptation and carbon neutrality projects. This analysis is carried out at European, regional and pilot zone level.
- An analysis of beneficiaries' capacities: this involves observing the capacities and shortcomings of local authorities in terms of financing, managing, monitoring and implementing adaptation solutions.
- A local authority capacity-building and sustainability phase: this involves supporting local authorities in their responses to funding opportunities for climate change adaptation and carbon neutrality projects.
A toolbox will be developed throughout the project on the basis of analyses carried out in the Euro-MED zone.
In the region, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Énergie Environnement is supporting Belleville-en-Beaujolais, a pilot town that will benefit directly from the actions carried out as part of the project, in particular the implementation of nature-based solutions.
Another pilot in the region, the Metropolis of Lyon, is being accompanied by Atmo Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (with the support of AURA-EE) on carbon neutrality solutions.
This project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg Euro-MED programme.
