The SHREC project presented at the EUSALP Climate, Risks, Energy Conference in Chamonix

2020.11.16

During the Climate, Risks, Energy Conference held on September 30 and October 1 at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Chamonix in a richly decorated room at the Le Majestic Congress Center, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Energy Environment (AURA-EE) installed and hosted a "SHREC stand". Organized within the framework of the French presidency of the European Union Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP), the conference brought together more than 80 participants in person and nearly 50 others remotely, despite the health situation.

The SHREC stand gave rise to enthusiastic exchanges between project representatives - Rogelio Bonilla and Nicolas Picou - and conference participants. For example, local actors shared their work to promote advanced biomass boilers through citizen investments.

Synergy with another alpine project

On the occasion of these two days, another project in which AURA-EE is the lead partner had a stand: ALPGRIDS, an Interreg Alpine Space project, which aims at "Creating a favorable transnational environment to promote micro-grid solutions".

As both SHREC and ALPGRIDS projects focus on the possibilities to increase the production and consumption of renewable energies, synergies are possible. SHREC project partners can indeed benefit from what is being done in ALPGRIDS: the creation of local energy communities to increase the use of renewable energy at the local level. Conversely, the advances made within the SHREC framework on models to involve local communities, public actors and consumers in the production and consumption of renewable energy can be of use to the ALPGRIDS partners.

Synergies between the two projects will be further fostered in the future, to enrich the knowledge of each project's partners. Noémie Poize, AURA-EE project officer, in charge of the ALPGRIDS project, and the project partners will participate in the SHREC Stakeholders' Meeting, to be held in Piedmont on November 19th, to exchange on energy communities.
